My Best Friend's Wedding #1

They say if you keep at least one best friend throughout your life, you're lucky, and even though I'm not yet 30, I'm proud to say I have two best friends. These are the kind of friends you make and keep forever, the kind that stick with you through it all, tell it like it is when you'd rather ignore the truth, and love you despite your weird habits. Both of them are engaged, and in a week, one will officially become a wife.

Adrienne is one of those girls you can't help but love. She's insatiable when it comes to life, taking in experiences and learning more as she goes. I remember meeting her years ago in school. She was tall, pretty, and to someone like me who was short and uncertain, she was intimidating. But as the weeks went by I saw her enthusiasm, which I loved, and I remember thinking to myself, "I hope she never loses that quality." She was someone to be admired, a girl who did well in school, was involved in everything from basketball to orchestra to theater, and inspired me to think even bigger.

Years later, whenever I see her, she's still the same Adrienne. Wiser and more experienced, but still the same. I'm so happy she hasn't lost that spark. Through all the chaos life brings to everyone, she's retained that piece of herself that's so essential. And I couldn't be more thrilled that she's found someone to share her life with.

When I think back to our school days, when we were in and out of boy crushes, struggling to fit in, not quite sure where our lives were going, I'm grateful for friendships like Adrienne's. She helped make life all the more fun, sane and ultimately, memorable.

Congratulations to one of my best friends, and I hope and pray happiness follows you and your beloved wherever life might take you.
