My Best Friend's Wedding #2
I love weddings, and I love them even more when it’s one of my best
friends in the starring role. A while back, I wrote about one of my
best girlfriends and the start of her journey as a married woman. Now,
my other best friend, Tanya, is taking the same step.
I’ve never met anyone else quite like Tanya, and I mean that in the best, most positive way. We’ve known each other for well over half our lives now. I remember seeing her on the playground in elementary school, but our friendship didn’t start until sixth grade. One of the first things I noticed about her is her sense of humor and sarcasm, which I naturally gravitated toward. She is funny and quirky and smart, and extremely self motivated. She’s always had a plan and all the tools necessary to execute that plan. She is who she is, and doesn’t ever apologize for it. I simply love that and have to admit, sometimes envy her for that quality.
The private jokes are countless (we add new ones yearly), and I’ve no doubt those who witness our crazy antics probably think we’re slightly insane, but that’s what gives our friendship such a special and unique quality. After high school, she headed off to college several states away, but that couldn’t sever the ties. We continued to see each other through jobs, relationships, relocating and everything else. Then she met The Guy, a great guy who upon further examination compliments her perfectly.
I’ve always been proud of her, of everything she’s accomplished so far, and I’ve been so grateful to have our friendship all these years. She’s one of those people I know I could count on and call at all hours of the day or night. The fun times continue to happen, and I’m so excited for her new life to begin! She excels at everything else, and I’m sure she’ll be excellent at marriage too.
