Relaxing Vacation
We just returned from our road trip yesterday afternoon. We took our time going through Washington and Oregon, and finally made it down to Yosemite where we were greeted with clear blue skies and towering mountaintops. Not knowing whether we'd ever get a chance to go there again, we took advantage of the opportunity by snapping photo after photo. Throughout the entire trip, we were surrounded by wide open spaces and big sky. It was one of the most relaxing vacations ever.
I find myself completely at ease with everything. As I ran out to the store this morning to restock our refrigerator, I was relaxed and content, smiling easily and saying hello to everyone. I thanked the gals at Starbucks profusely for making my drink, and I asked the lady at the deli how her day was before ordering our usual pound of sliced turkey.
Perhaps the friendliness of Oregon rubbed off on me. Everywhere we went, everyone was extremely nice. They were so nice I even wondered if there was a reason for it, but it occurred to me life in some places is slower, subdued and less stressful than it is in large cities. It was very appealing. The resort we stayed at in Bend, Oregon, was beautiful and serene. The entire area was gorgeous and the town was filled with restaurants, shops and great people. Ken and I agreed it was a beautiful place, and I could easily see us living there. It's been added to our short list of location possibilities.
Maybe one day in the not-so-distant future, we'll be living in a place like that: A smaller place with enough people and things to do to keep you busy, a place that has a bit more than everything you need but not so much that you loose track of the beauty of life itself. Thanks to the internet, I can make my music anywhere. I'd rather my husband and I be happier, healthier, less stressed and surrounded by nature.
As I sit here writing, totally loose and relaxed, I find myself anxious to continue the work on my music. I have an entire plan laid out, songs to copyright, new photos for website updates ready and all kinds of sunshine to share. I'm so grateful for the vacation and the beautiful nature that surrounded us the entire time. And I can't think of a better time to dive right back into what I love doing the most. Music, music, and more music.

Crater Lake, one of my favorite destinations on our trip. |
