When Life Happens

Life sometimes has a way of taking you places, away from your routine and the mundane everyday things. I'm thankful for that. As much as I like routine, change shakes things up and keeps things moving. A lot has happened since I last wrote.

I've been (happily) distracted by something that's consistently distracted me from everything else since I was little. Music, music and more music. Not just any music, but my own. After nearly a year of prep (re-writing, re-recording, mastering, photos, website updates, campaign building, etc) I finally achieved one of my goals, to release my music for digital download throughout the internet community. What excites me the most is reaching out to people, inspiring them with my melodies and lyrics, and putting myself out there. There's nothing more thrilling and terrifying than exposing so much of yourself to the world. In my opinion, emotional exposure is so much more personal than even physical exposure. Anyone can see what you look like, but very few get to see or experience what's underneath your skin. For me, I'd rather someone say I'm ugly than criticize my music. Seriously. That's how close it is to my heart.

So much work goes into the whole process of releasing music, and I simply love that. The process is what I love. When I'm sitting still, waiting for things to happen, I go crazy. I'd rather reach out and take action, get things moving and plan things. Just knowing that I'm following through on my plans, and crossing things off my list... I get so jazzed!

Another reason I'm inclined to write is because I've reached a soft milestone, my 30th birthday. Rather than sulk about leaving my 20s behind, I'm embracing 30 with open arms! In the past year, I've never felt more confident or excited about life, I've never been more sure of my feelings, thoughts and beliefs. Frankly, I'm in the best shape physically that I've ever been and I'm eating so much better. I know this is the tip of the iceberg, and even though time is flying by faster and faster, I can't wait to see what happens next!

So here's to the future, here's to you, the casual reader/music listener or whoever you may be. Thank you for reading, thank you for the inspiration and the feedback and the support. I'll continue pushing, reaching higher than I previously thought I could, all in the hopes that something even greater is around the corner.
