Love Notes
For years, I denied that I'm a hopeless romantic. I tried to be a tough girl, a girl who can casually date, doesn't care when things aren't peachy keen and takes heartbreaks in stride. But that's so not me.
I finally decided to embrace my love for love, and I haven't looked back. I appreciate the small things, the gestures of loyalty and trust. I love flowers, hand holding, knowing looks, terms of endearment and especially, love notes. In this modern world, there are a variety of ways to send a love note. There's texting (to express a simple morning 'hello' and 'love you'), email (a little outdated, but still effective), and my very favorite, the classic handwritten note.
If you think you have to be some poetic genius to write a handwritten love note, you're terribly mistaken. I'd even argue it's the notes that aren't quite so refined that sometimes mean the most, because they're frank and honest. I also think a note doesn't have to include any lines about 'loving until the day I die' to qualify as a love note. Sometimes a one or two sentence reminder ('ran to the store, hugs until I get back', or 'at the gym, can't wait to see you') is just enough to give someone the warm and fuzzies.
Some people say they don't need the romantic stuff, and they'll even cringe when you talk about your own sappy experiences, but I'm sure those very same people will love getting a love note. It proves you took the time and the effort to make sure your loved one knows you're thinking of them. So I encourage you to leave all kinds of notes. I prefer the handwritten ones, but whatever works for you will work wonders! This goes for you too, ladies: The guys like sweet words too, trust me.
